A 10-week Summer placement with Direct Energy is a unique opportunity to fast-track your personal development, fulfill your potential and get ahead of the game. Internships are available in:

The Internship program is a 10 week program and individuals should be able to complete the full 10 weeks to be considered for the internship. Candidate must be a US citizen or permanent resident, authorized to work in the US on a permanent, full time basis without sponsorship.

What Does It Involve?

Our 10-week Summer internship Program is designed to increase your future employment prospects and provide a valuable resource to the business. During your placement you’ll work on real projects with real responsibility, while benefiting from a wide support network of colleagues, a line manager and the Central Graduates team. Our aim is to help you build your strengths, gain skills that can be transferred to any workplace and stand out from the crowd. Our Summer placements will appeal to self-motivated students with a proactive, can-do attitude and a genuine desire to learn about our business and industry.

We offer internships in the following areas listed below.

Customer Operations

You will work within our Direct Energy business located in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Your project will give you the opportunity to work with a variety of different people, across a wide range of operations in our frontline business to develop your skills. Degree Plans in Finance, Business and Energy Management.

Digital and Marketing

In this position, the intern will learn the basics of many digital advertising channels, such as Pay-Per-Click (PPC), Search Engine Optimization (SEO), and Digital Display. Additionally, the Digital Analyst will work cross functionally with internal stakeholders (IT, Project Management, Marketing, Finance and Analytics teams).

Information Technology

Our in-house Information Systems (IS) team supports the business from the initial purchase of energy to the accurate billing of our customers. These placements will suit students who have an interest in technology but who can also display a wide range of skills, particularly the ability to present complex ideas clearly and simply. Degree Plans in Technology, Information Systems and related fields.

Procurement

Our Procurement internships enables inquisitive, commercially astute graduates to access all aspects of our organization and understand the energy supply chain – from Uupstream oil and gas exploration through the retailing of energy to businesses and customers. Our approach to procurement is not solely focused on cost; we ensure that our supply chains are ethically sourced and that our suppliers hold the same high standards that we do and can bring new value to our business. Degree Plans in Supply Chain Management or related field.

Direct Energy North American Business

This internship will offer an opportunity to experience our business and how it operates. You will be assigned to a key operational area of the business, performing meaningful work. You will be assigned to a key operational area of the business, performing meaningful work in a variety of capacities. Leaders and mentors will guide and coach you throughout the Summer as you learn through on the job development, structured learning and project based work. Degree plans in Finance / Energy Finance, Mathematics, Business, Sales, Marketing, Statistics or Economics.

What You Can Expect From Us

In return for your hard work and initiative, we will give you the support to make the most of the experience. You’ll be:

  • Paired with a ‘mentor’ to help you settle in and answer any questions
  • Assigned a line manager with experience of the area of business in which you are placed
  • Further supported by the Central Graduate team, who are always on hand to help you get the best from the placement
  • Beyond this support, we will provide you with accommodation close to your placement. With other students also based in the area, you’ll have a ready-made network wherever you end up.

The Summer Internship program offers a real-life look at what it might mean to be a Direct Energy graduate. If you perform well in your placement, you could even return to your university with an offer to join the graduate rotational program after your graduation.

Program Requirements

Entry requirement:-Minimum overall GPA of 3.0 or greater. You should be in your 2nd or 3rd year in 4 year accredited university. If you are successful in securing a internship position you will need to be able a full 10 weeks.

We also accept applications from final year students providing you have a plan to return in September 2015, if you are successful in securing a graduate position with us after your 10 weeks.

The program is your opportunity to be considered for a graduate role next June and so you should be looking (and eligible) to start a graduate career then.
