About Direct Energy » Corporate Responsibility
Operating responsibly is our priority. Our vision is to be one of North America’s most trusted energy suppliers by operating our business in a transparent, responsible and friendly way in the communities that we serve.
We aspire to be a leader in identifying, managing, and championing corporate responsibility issues – like managing our impact on the environment and helping others do the same, offering our customers reliable and competitively priced products and services, playing a role alongside government and the public to help ensure that vulnerable customers can access the energy they need and manage their energy costs and by providing an enriching experience for our people by providing competitive compensation and benefits, training and career development opportunities and support for work/life balance initiatives.
We believe we have a responsibility to support the communities in which we live and work. We invest our resources, share our knowledge and volunteer our time to help many charitable and community partners, including causes to aid customers in need and energy efficiency education. We also support our people in a wide range of their own local charitable initiatives.
By nurturing our responsible culture – one committed to continuous improvement – we’re making our business better.
One of the three pillars of community investment at Direct Energy is employee engagement and volunteerism in the communities where we operate. On an annual basis, more than 2,000 employees volunteer their time to worthwhile charitable initiatives across North America. For 2011, the organization set a goal of achieving 12,000 volunteer hours in the community, a clear demonstration that the spirit of volunteerism thrives at Direct Energy.
